The CD entitled “The Final Cut” is a fitting tribute to this last and
final year for
Lincoln School. This new release is the culmination of a very successful
year in which
the Jazz Ensemble was one of only 5 jazz groups chosen from across the
state to
perform at the 2006 Ohio Music Education Association Convention in
Cleveland, Ohio.
The Lincoln Jazz Ensemble represented Dayton Public Schools with pride and
was the
youngest group of performers at the convention. The band, consisting of
students in
grades 4-7, is under the direction of Joy Jones. The brand new CD recording
contains
total of 15 songs, 3 of which were recorded at the convention in January,
and the
remainder
recorded more recently on May 4. |
