Event
on 12/01/2012: 8pm to 11pm
Oh what a night! All six players listed below did a wonderful job,
played many Dizzy tunes as well as many jazz standards. Threw in a
couple holiday songs; the first being Little Drummer Boy, the
likes of which was different from anything I've heard in my life - an
outstanding jazz rendition!
Roderick Wilson
is presented a tribute concert to the great Dizzy Gillespie at Jazz
Central, He was joined by some great local musicians to offer music
and information on one of the greatest players of all time.

Eddie Brookshire - base
Fenton Sparks - drums
Cliff Darrett - percussion
J. Webster
Smith (aka "Dr. Feel Good") will join with Kenny Baccus and Family to
present an evening of good music and pizza for the benefit of the local

Join us for good
entertainment for a good cause.
The ShinSings Orchestra returns to Jazz Central to perform a concert for
the Gabriel Foundation to raise money to obtain musical instruments for
youth in our area. Steve Shininger (who sounds more like Frank Sinatra than
anybody I’ve heard) and the ShinSings Orchestra performed at Jazz Central
last January and at the last two Urban Nights for the Dayton Metro Library,
where Mark Willis told me these were the best Urban Night events ever. It
has come to my attention that this wonderful group will not be with us much
longer as Steve’s wife is being transferred by the Airforce, so come out and
enjoy while you can. The show runs from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm in Dayton’s
authentic jazz club. There will be door prizes; free parking and pizza by
the slice will be available.
Wade Baker returns
to Jazz Central to offer his style of a Christmas Party. Celebrate the
season with Jazz, Soul and R&B. Wade will be joined by a number of
friends and three outstanding vocalist.
Join us for a one night special when the Jazz Central Big Band
Returns! The Generations is off in January and Mike Rinderle has talked
with Mr. stone into using the music charts form the original big band
that played many years ago at the club.

Editor’s
Ramblings:
I need some help in this promoting jazz thing; I’m having a time trying
to keep up. One thing I’ve meaning to send out for some time is a
request in update information on our venue’s list, which is just below
the jazz calendar on our website’s home page. We try to offer venue
information for each event on the calendar so folks can get an idea of
how to get to the event they may be interested in seeing. Over time I’m
sure some of these venues may not have jazz anymore or even be in
existence. So if you are aware of this being the case, please send me an
email so I can remove them. This could also apply to our jazz artist
registry. Another item I could use some help on is posting events on our
local jazz calendar. I need some volunteers that would be willing to
spend maybe an hour week adding event information from online postings
from a link or two that I would supply into an Excel spreadsheet, which
I would also supply and returning it to me so I can paste into our
website calendar. If we divide this project among a few people, who
would be willing, the time required for each would be small. Anyone
interested please contact me at rgable1@gmail.com.
