WINTER'S GATHERING 2006 IN TIPP CITY
The perfect start to
the Holiday Season awaits you in Historic Downtown Tipp City where the
shopkeepers warmly invite you to the 17th Annual Holiday Open House.
The Winter’s Gathering, sponsored by Tippecanoe Main
Street and held on November 11th and 12th, features dozens of lavishly
decorated shops introducing new merchandise to create an early holiday
feeling.
New businesses to the downtown Historic District this
year include Tale of Two Sisters, Grounds for Pleasure Coffee Shop,
Studio Des Parfums, Tippecanoe Trophy Co., Tour Great Miami.Com, The
Trophy Shop, and Wealth Solutions. The Hotel Gallery announces several
new upper level shops: Blue Truck (decorative faux painting),
Whichcraft? (fine hand made gifts), Barns to Benches, and artist
Bobbie Mullins.
The featured attraction for this years Winter’s
Gathering will be a ‘Nativity Display’ hosted by our downtown Tipp
City United Methodist Church. While you’re in town spend a moment of
your shopping time to view a unique collection of nativity scenes from
all over the world. New depictions as well as antique sets will be on
display both days in the church at 3rd and Main.
The Tipp Roller Mill will be a festive gathering place
as the theater celebrates the Winter’s Gathering by providing free
entertainment both days of the open house. To kick the weekend off, on
Saturday at 10:30, visitors will enjoy the return of “Kidz On da’
Rock” (children’s choir from Ginghamsburg Church). Entertainment will
continue throughout the day. On Sunday there will be a “Bluegrass
Gathering” offering an afternoon of old-time music featuring a number
of local bands. Hosting the day long celebration will be the Rum River
Blend Band.
Additional weekend highlights to include:
Free carriage rides and strolling costumed carolers and musicians.
The Coldwater Café will be offering free "Soup on the Commons" in the
courtyard behind the Hotel both days.
· The Valley Arts and Crafts Club will be having their
Holiday Show both days in the basement of the Monroe Township
building.
* Clay ornament decorating for kids both days at the
Tipp Roller Mill
* Art demonstrations/exhibit featuring the Hotel
painters, Second Street behind Coldwater Cafe.
Musical guest: Guy Bishop, ragtime pianist, Saturday at 1:00 in The
Hotel Gallery.
* Street entertainers: Oglesbee & Steinke, piano and
sax, both days in front of The Hotel Gallery
* Charlie Chaplin mime (a town favorite) both days at
Second and Main.
Book signing: “This Small Church” by author Mary Legner Saturday 11-5
Tippecanoe Room of The Hotel Gallery.
The reindeer, Dancer and Prancer, will return to
accompany Santa as he arrives at 2 PM Sunday. This arrival will
commemorate the 17th Annual Winter’s Gathering with the traditional
lamp lighting ceremony held on the Carriage House lawn directly behind
The Hotel. Radio celebrity Bucks Braun returns to officiate the
lamp lighting. Immediately following the ceremony, parents can make a
Winter’s Gathering Memory by having their children’s picture taken
with Santa Clause inside the Tippecanoe Room inside The Hotel Gallery.
Open House hours are Saturday 10-8PM and Sunday 12-6PM.
